Description:
MRO Supply offers a variety of bearing accessories to improve bearing performance, such as adapter sleeves, withdrawal sleeves,
lock nuts, oil seals, and housing. Adapter sleeves allow
bearings with a tapered bore to be mounted onto a straight or stepped shaft easily. On a plain shaft, the bearing can be located at any position, and for stepped shafts, the use of an L-shaped spacer ring can accurately position the bearing axially, allowing for easy mounting and dismounting. Similarly, withdrawal sleeves are used to mount bearings with a tapered bore onto stepped
shafts. However, these sleeves must be located on the shaft using a nut or end plate. Both withdrawal and adapter sleeves can increase axial flexibility, improving locational thrust accommodation of the bearing. Lock nuts are self-securing nuts used to locate bearings and accessories onto a shaft, or facilitate mounting and dismounting. Oil seals are ring shaped seals designed to protect a bearing’s oil from outside particles such as dust, dirt, and water. Normally made of an elastic rubber material and designed with a “lip”, oil seals are important for protecting the grease quality of the bearing and prolonging operation life. Finally, housing is a protective unit designed to keep a bearing secure from environmental or operating forces, to maximize operation life and reduce required bearing maintenance. Most bearing accessories must be purchased separately, and accessories needed depends on the specific application of a bearing and desired performance levels.
