Description:
Bearing inserts are
bearings designed to be inserted into mounted housing units, such as flange units or
pillow blocks. Many housing units include the bearing insert, but they are also available as stand alone products, as most housing units are interchangeable. Many styles, materials, and features of insert bearings are available, to allow complete customization for any housing unit or application. These bearings are often produced with a spherical OD to accommodate misalignment, but can also be produced with a cylindrical OD. Setscrew, squeeze collar, and eccentric locking collar locking types are available, with various inner ring widths, affecting bearing load capacity. Bearing materials include bearing steel, which can be chrome steel or stainless steel, nickel and plated zinc. Some bearings also feature a surface coating such as black oxide for specific applications. An anti-rotation pin is also a common feature option, to reduce rotation of the outside bearing ring. Additionally, different types of lubrication are available, such as food grade or lithium based grease, and most bearings can be re-lubricated. Seal types include rubber seals, metal shields, open bearings, or triple lip seals for particularly harsh environmental conditions.
