Description:
Self-aligning bearings comprise an inner ring, outer ring, and two rows of balls. The outer ring has a single spherical raceway, and the inner ring has two deep raceway grooves. This unique design allows these bearings to automatically correct misalignment caused by shaft and housing machining, or an installation error. Other benefits include extremely reduced friction, allowing for excellent high-speed performance, low maintenance requirements, reliable light-load performance, and noise and vibration reduction. Self-aligning bearings are suitable for applications with severe misalignments from mounting or shaft deflection, but they also are highly versatile and great for general use. Applications include agricultural machinery, heavy power machinery, mining and textile industries. Designs can include a cylindrical bore or a tapered bore. They are available as self-aligning roller bearings as well, which are known as
spherical roller bearings. These bearings can come sealed, requiring no maintenance and being more cost-effective, or open, with turned recesses in the outer ring allowing for seal and shield customizations. Cage assemblies can be polyamide or various steel cages, and regular improvements and variations such as
lubricants, preload, and special coatings can impact bearing performance. MRO Supply carries a wide selection of self-aligning bearings, featuring various manufacturers, designs, sizes, materials, and more, to suit any application.
