- What is MOAH and MOSH?: Mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons and mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons, compounds present in mineral oils. European OEMs increasingly restrict mineral-oil-based lubricants on this basis. Note that the U.S. FDA permits USP white mineral oil for consumption under 21 CFR 172.878; this is a difference in OEM specification practice, not a U.S. safety ruling.
