QD bushed sheaves (
5V section) 3-groove have three grooves on the surfaces of the sheaves that only support 5V section belts. The Sheave grooves prevent V-belts from slipping, which improves speed and power transmission. The narrower V-belts provide more wedge action and higher load capacity, compared to 3-grooved sheaves that use standard V-belts. The V-belts are made of
rubber or synthetic rubber stocks, which gives them high flexibility so that they wrap easily around the sheaves. The sidewalls of 5V-belts fit into corresponding QD bushed sheave grooves. When the belts move, their tension applies a wedging action, perpendicular to the belts’ surface, which pushes their sides against the sides of the grooves. This multiplies the frictional forces and allows the belt drive to transmit higher loads. The QD Bushing sheaves run quietly and smoothly and can be made from cast iron, which is popular with manufactures, stamped steel galvanized steel, or stainless steel.
