Cooling towers are often used in industries to regulate the amount of heat in production. Through an evaporative process, water temperature is lowered while circulating through the tower. A cooling tower drive is a compact device used in the tower to transmit power to the cooling fan whose main duty is to blow air across the cooling medium . Depending on how much air you want to pass over the hot water to cool it, one must choose between single and double reduction gearboxes. A cooling tower may use either a direct drive motor or a gearbox, drive shaft and induction motor for industrial cooling. Direct drive motors
are more reliable than their counterparts as they are more efficient, smaller in size, and require less maintenance. Common applications of cooling towers include petrochemical and other chemical plants, oil refineries, thermal power stations, HVAC
systems and nuclear power stations.
