Brad point drill bits
, commonly referred to as wood bits, are power tool accessories used for boring neat holes in materials such as wood. Unlike the twist bits that are known to skate when drilling, the brad point bits are very accuracy. The top of the drill bit has a brad point. This is probably where the bit derives its name. The sharp brad end digs into the surface of the workpiece to ensure that the holes are drilled at the targeted point. Another feature of the brad point bit is sharp spurs. These are the edges that cut through the wooden material when the bit turns. Note that the spurs also determine the diameter of the hole. The spurs have extended lips that shear out the materials as the drill makes holes. Because the brad point drill bits come in diverse sizes, ensure to start by determining the size of the holes you need to make, and order the right bits.
