The A723 is a spot weld drill bit, so it is used to remove or “drill out” spot welded areas.
It has a lip and spur point which is specially designed for that task and is available in most common sizes, commonly for removing welds in a vehicle repair shop so the panels can be released and repaired.
It has a short flute length to make it more sturdy and less prone to shatter when being used in a hand held device whilst the bronze oxide finish makes sure workpiece material does not stick to the tool.
Manufactured from High Speed cobalt, the A723 can also be used for drilling hardened steel as a result of spot welding
