This sanitizer that is coming onto the market is not what you are used to.
A few months ago, alcohol distilleries have started producing sanitizer to meet the surging demand. In addition, ethanol plants have also started to provide alcohol for a sanitizer product. Neither of these have the scent or consistency to the sanittizer that was populare before the Covid-19 pandemic had started.
Ethanol plant vs Distillery sourced is quite different
Ethanol source alcohol tends to have a methane / sulphur smell that is typically described as unpleasant. Distillery sourced alcohol tends to have a light to strong scent of the distillery product that made it (vodka, teqiulla). We have been told that Ethanol source alcohol may be harmful. We have chosen to only supply distilery sourced sanitizer to our customers. There may be production techniques that can reduce these unwanted ingredients, but I have yet to come across the,
There is a new FDA requirement - 80% strength
It seems the FDA isnt taking chances - they are asking for 80% strength sanitizer. Once again, scent is an issue here for those not used to the new formula of sanitizer that is coming to the market. What does 80% alcohol smell like? The answer is 80% alcohol. An experienced drinker might be able to tell you WHAT alcohol it came from also.
