Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered e-Bike

November 16, 2015

Eco Speed e-bike is a bike from the future developed by Canyon. The design is stylish and it contains an electric motor that is powered by a hydrogen fuel-cell.

In 2014, Alexander Forst started designing e-bikes and got partnership from Canyon to work for future bikes. The e-bike runs with a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain  which powers an electric motor. After mixing hydrogen with oxygen it generates a 500W power.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology is a new innovative approach that could power cars of the future and provide an alternative to current fuel sources. The e-bike has been designed to be aerodynamic with wings replacing the handlebars. The handlebar position can be adjusted for height so the position can be adapted to different riders. Only the handles at the bar ends move when there is a turning, but the wings remain fixed when steering.

In the Eco Speed design the disc brakes are attached directly to the spokes of the wheels to maximize integration. Suspension fork with all the working parts fully enclosed. The top tube provides full comfort and gives a feeling of Soft Ride mountain bike from the 1990s
