History
Carlisle Tire and Rubber Company was founded in 1917 by Charles S. Moomy in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The company produced and sold inner tubes to Montgomery Ward and Company. In 1943, the company was bought by Pharis Tire and Rubber Company. In 1949, Carlisle was liquidated and its stock distributed among all Pharis stockholders. The company was then officially renamed Carlisle Corporation. During the 1990's, the company bought several wheel manufacturers and officially became Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company. Carlisle also expanded their manufacturing operations to include Canada and the Asia Pacific region. In 2001, the company bought the industrial belt division of Dayco including several of its facilities, enabling them to expand into the industrial belt industry and forming Carlisle Power Transmission. In 2011, Carlisle Power Transmission and Carlisle Tier and Wheel were consolidated, forming Carlisle Transportation Products. In 2013, Carlisle's Transportation Products division was acquired by American Industrial Partners (AIP).
