General Bearing
General Bearing is a manufacturer and distributor of bearings and its components such as spherical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, and ball bearings under two brands - the Hyatt and The General. These products are sold to OEMs and the industrial aftermarket, to be used in a vast range of applications such as machinery, trucks, office equipment, appliances, automobiles, and locomotives.
History
General Bearing Corporation was founded by Seymour Gussak in 1958 with a focus on designing bearings that can be used in various special industrial applications. In 1965, the company started supplying standard precision bearings to OEMs. Four years later, the company moved its manufacturing facility to North Carolina where it produced bearings and its components to be sold to industrial OEMs and the automotive industry. The company's Distribution Division was formed in 1975 which was tasked to sell both manufactured and imported products to industrial distributors in the U.S. In 1987, the company acquired Hyatt Clark, a division of General Motors, which manufactured tapered roller bearings used in the railroad and automotive industries. The company used some of the assets acquired to build two new factories, one in New Jersey and the other one in China which was called Shanghai General Bearing Co., Ltd. In 1996, the company moved its headquarters to West Nyack, New York. A year later, a second manufacturing facility was built in China, the Ningbo General Bearing Co., Ltd. In 1999, the company formed Jiangsu General Ball & Roller Company, Ltd. to manufacture rolling elements for bearings. In 2006, another manufacturing facility was built in Ningbo, China. A year later, the Ningbo Hyatt Roller Co., Ltd., a manufacturing facility focused on producing rollers was opened.

The General Bearing Corporation is headquartered in West Nyack, New York with several manufacturing facilities in China and one in the U.S. The company also has an Engineering & Technology Center in Ningbo, China which was created solely to design tests for their products.
