IDC-USA
IDC-USA is a cooperative made up of more than 280 local independent distributors that help provide MRO solutions to their community. The cooperative serves various industries including food processing, construction and building materials, industrial MRO, electrical utilities, power transmission, industrial OEM, mining facilities, and farming.
History
IDC-USA was first formed in 1986 by some independent industrial bearing and power transmission distributors as a cooperative. The goal was to be able to compete on a national level against the bigger distributors by using their combined purchasing power. Two years later, the cooperative was formaly incorporated as Independent Distributors Cooperative-USA. In 1990, the cooperative opened a 12,000-square-foot stocking warehouse in Greenwood, Indiana. Five years later, IDC-USA was able to open another distribution center, this time in Dallas, Texas. The more than 33,000-square-foot facility housed not only IDC-USA inventory but also that of Bando USA, Nachi America, and Electron inventory. By 1999, the cooperative had grown so large that it needed a bigger warehouse than the one it had in Greenwood which led them to obtain a new one near the Indianapolis International Airport. This new facility houses the cooperative's headquarters, distribution center, inside sales department, and IDC University. In 2001, IDC-USA launched its eCommerce website where member companies are easily able to check pricing and availability, access catalogs, place large stock orders, and more. In 2009, the company increased the size of the Indianapolis distribution center to 50,000 square feet enabling the cooperative to store double the amount of inventory. Another distribution center with 31,000 square feet of space was opened in 2011 in Reno, Nevada. Today, IDC-USA is made up of more than 299 indipendent distributors and are partners with more than 87 suppliers that provide end-users with hose, rubber, hydraulics, power transmission, bearing, and related products.
