Ideal-Tridon

Ideal Clamp Products, Inc., part of Tomkins plc, designs and manufactures stainless steel worm gear as well as auto, marine, plumbing, industrial, and specialty hose clamps that are used in various fastening and sealing applications. The company's products include T-bolts, no-hub couplings, constant tension clamps, V-Bands, high-torque clamps, and worm drive hose clamps. Ideal also offers various specialty and custom clamping products.

 

History

Ideal Clamp Manufacturing Company was founded in 1913 by Philip Rauch in Brooklyn, New York soon after he developed and patented the worm drive hose clamp. In 1919, the company was chosen by the U.S. Naviy to supply hose clamps for the first trans-Atlantic flight. In 1927, Ideal was also the chosen supplier for the flight of the Spirit of St. Louis. Over the next several years, the company's engineers developed various clamps used in the aircraft, plumbing, automotive, marine, hardware, agricultural, and industrial markets. In 1953, Ideal became the supplier of hose clamps for the winner of the Indy 500 (and still is today). In 1986, the company moved to St. Augustine, Florida. Ideal was later bought by Tomkins plc in 1997.

Ideal Clamp Products, Inc. is headquartered in Smyrna, Tennessee. The company also has operations in Brownsville, Texas; Tamaulipas, Mexico; Weilerswist, Germany; Poland; Jiangsu, China; Nagoya, Japan; and Mumbai, India.
