NORD Gear, part of the NORD Drivesystems Group, is a manufacturer of gear drives, large industrial gearing, AC drives, AC motors, frequency inverters, and motor starters.
History
was founded in 1965. In 1977, the company constructed a modern gear production factory. Two years later, NORD established worldwide subsidiaries as well as assembly centers. In 1980, the company introduced the UNICASE™ "leak-proof" housing design. Three years later, NORD's first motor manufacturing facility was constructed. In 1985, its first frequency inverter manufacturing facility was constructed. In 1992, the company built a machining factory for castings and steel components. Five years later, NORD constructed a motor manufacturing facility in Italy. Over the next several years, new assembly plants were established in France, Great Britain, Austria, and China. In 2002, the company expanded the Gadebusch machining plant. An assembly plant was constructed in Russia a year later. In 2004, NORD built a new motor plant in Italy. A year later, the company celebrated its 40th year and opened a high-rack storage system in Germany. NORD also built a new assembly center in China. In 2006, the company opened a new production plant in Aurich, Germany specifically for its electronic products. In 2007, new assembly plants were constructed in India and Czech Republic. Over the next three years, the company expanded its headquarters in Bargteheide, Germany to include a parking garage, a high-rack storage, and an assembly center for industrial gear units. In 2011, NORD opened a second factory in Tianjin, China as well as established the NORD Australian subsidiary. Today, NORD Drivesystems has 35 subsidiaries worldwide with manufacturing facilities in 30 countries.

Getriebebau NORD is headquartered in Bargteheide, Germany. In the US, the company has three corporate offices: Waunakee, Wisconsin; Corona, California; and Charlotte, North Carolina. Across the globe, NORD Gear has over 60 international locations including Italy, Vietnam, Spain, Brazil, Australia, South Korea, India, and China.
