History

Warner Electric was founded in 1927 as the Warner Electric Brake Corporation by A.P. Warner due to a new brake design that made use of electricity. A short while after World War II ends, the company delveoped the first industrial electric brake for high-speed engine lathes. In 1950, Warner Electric developed the first industrial electric clutch for large turret lathes. Over the next several years, the range of applications expanded to include textile machinery, packaging machines, plant automation equipment, and conveyor systems. More recently, the company developed packaged designs - foot mounted, shaft mounted and C-face designs for direct mounting to standard reducers and motors.
