Knives are cutting tools
that primarily consist of a handle and a cutting blade that is sharpened on one side. Knives blades can be straight or serrated and are made from a wide variety of materials, including steel, stainless steel, bronze, titanium, ceramics, copper, and iron. Many modern knives have blades that feature different patterns, styles, and flexibility, which vary by country and manufacturer. Knives have many uses, and they can be customized into hunting knives, combat knives, switchblades, daggers, and swords, juggling knives, kitchen knives, pocket knives, and camping knives. Wooden handles are the most popular types of handles, followed by plastic and rubber handles. Other parts of a knife include the point, edge, grind, spine, fuller, ricasso guard, hilt, and lanyard. Some types of knives are used in industrial cutting machines that are used in plastic and recycling, woodworking, paper mills, joinery and forest, and metal cutting processes. Industrial knives have replaceable blade design due to their heavy-duty applications that inevitably results in wear and tear.
