Air Dryers & Condensate Management
Dry compressed air protects valves, cylinders, tools and finishes from water and corrosion.
Start with how dry the air has to be. Refrigerated dryers handle general plant air; desiccant and membrane dryers reach lower dew points at the point of use. Pair either with the right filtration ahead of the dryer and a regulator after it.

Air dryers
Pick the dryer type by the dew point your application needs and where in the line it will sit.
Desiccant Air Dryers
Point-of-use dryers that pull moisture from compressed air with desiccant or a membrane, for low dew points at a machine, instrument or paint station.

Match the port size and flow rating to the line you are drying, and check the outlet dew point the dryer reaches. Desiccant units need the desiccant replaced or regenerated; membrane dryers have no consumables but use a little purge air. Put a coalescing filter ahead of either so oil and liquid water do not reach the drying element.
Refrigerated Air Dryers
Dryers that chill compressed air to condense and drain water, for general plant air and whole-line drying after the compressor.

Size the dryer on the compressor's flow at your inlet temperature and pressure, and check the supply voltage. Refrigerated dryers give a pressure dew point a few degrees above freezing, which suits most plant air; for drier air downstream, add a desiccant or membrane dryer at the point of use.
Air preparation
The parts installed around a dryer: filtration ahead of it and pressure control after it.
Compressed Air Filters
Particulate, coalescing and mist-separator filters that clean compressed air before the dryer and at the point of use.

Choose the micron rating for what you are removing: a general filter for particles and liquid water, then a coalescing filter for oil aerosol. Check the port size, flow and the drain type on the bowl.
Air Pressure Regulators
Regulators that hold downstream air pressure steady for tools, cylinders and instruments.

Match the port size and flow, and pick a set-pressure range that puts your working pressure in the middle of it. Modular units join to filters and lubricators of the same series; precision and electro-pneumatic regulators suit instruments and closed-loop control.
