Hole saws, also called hole cutters, are saw blades with a ring shape. The saws use special kerfs that cut holes in a workpiece without the need to cut the core material. They use a pilot drill bit referred to as an arbor that helps to keep the teeth steady. Because hole saws make holes without having to cut your workpiece, it is considered the better option compared to spade drills, especially when making large holes of more than one inch. When making holes using the hole saws, the depth is dependent on the depth of the cup-like shape. Although you can find some hole saws for cutting deeper holes, most of them are used for cutting shallow holes on thin workpieces. The cylinder of the hole saws is mainly constructed from steel.
