Description:
Nuts are fasteners that have a
threaded hole. They are in most of the cases used together with mating
bolts to fasten different parts of a machine or structure. The nut is the female part while the bolt is the male part.
Nuts can be categorized into two groups. The locking nuts are designed to resist loosening even under vibrations and torque. This is the main reason why they are considered ideal for motoring and heavy-duty
machinery. Some of the common types of locking nuts include jam nuts, jet nuts, tee nuts, castle nuts, and insert nuts.
The other category of nuts is the non-locking type. Unlike the locking model, these nuts do not resist loosening under vibrations and torque. Some of the common nuts in this category include lug nut, round nut, hex nut, and handle nut.
Because they are used to join two materials, nuts are designed with strong materials. These include titanium, stainless steel, steel, and copper alloys. However, you can also get nylon nuts, plastic nuts, and rubber nuts depending on the application of interest.
