Where to test some of the biggest bearings on earth?

October 28, 2015

The world’s highest-performance Bearing test centre is currently under construction. It covers the area of 3,000 square metres. The large-size bearing test centre is located at Schweinfurt, Germany.

The Bearing test-centre will have two test rigs; one will be used to test bearings, which is used in wind turbines main shafts and the other one can be used in various industries, including mining, construction, marine and steel. The facility is capable of testing bearings with an outer ring diameter of up to six metres, under extreme bending moments and dynamic loading conditions. Thanks to the new facility, the product dynamics, bending moment, rotational speeds and maximum power – all will be now outperform every other existing testing station in the world.

The bearing test rig will be the first in the world, which is capable of testing single rotor bearings along with the main shaft bearing arrangements in ideal environmental conditions. The other test rig offers would support large-size bearing development and tailoring solutions for different industries. It is certainly one of a kind and the largest ever with huge monetary investment, but for a good reason, creating the highest performance test centre for large bearings in the world.
