History
In 1897, Leon Frey Sr. founded The Frey Company, later renamed the Champion Twist Drill Company and then finally Champion Cutting Tool Corp. It was in 1964, when Leon H. Frey joined the company, that the Champion brand was born. Over the years, the company introduced several products such as the Taper Shank Drill (1955), the Brute Platinum twist drill (1971), whirlwind gun taps (1973), SA80 car and bridge reamers (1980), End Mills (1984), XL86 hex shank bridge reamers (1986), carbide burs (1993), RotoBrute magnetic drill presses and annular cutters (1996), BruteLube cutting fluid (1999), Zero Flute Countersinks (2002), and PTC porcelain hole cutters (2003). In 2005, Leon H. Frey retires as President after serving the company for 41 years.
