History

Pearl Abrasive Company was founded by Max Pearlman more than five decades ago as a small steel fabricating company. Over the years, the company grew and became a large consumer of abrasive products. Upon realizing the need for consistently high quality, cost effective abrasives, the family decided to become an international distributor of bonded and coated abrasives as well as diamond superabrasives and equipment to countries in North, South, and Central America. In 1968, the Pearl Abrasive Company was established as a subsidiary of Pearlman Corporation. By the 1970s, the company had started developing a complete line of abrasive products including the Maxi Disc™ Radial Flap Disc and the reinforced Pearl Flex Wheel. In 1980, the company was the first to introduce continuous rim dry cutting diamond blades. In 1993, the company introduced another new product - the Hexpin® Surface Preparation System, a product that uses diamond and carbide pins as well as various floor preparation attachments for sanding, polishing, coating removal, or grinding. In 1997, Pearl's VX Series Tile Saws was introduced to the market.
